Video is hot. There's not mistaking it. Video is an excellent way to tell a story. Some say it's the only way to tell a story. That's debatable, I know, but video requires everyone's attention. Even you are not into video yet, take a look at a few a day. This will give you a handle on what is going on.

One thing for sure: videos are watched. Another thing: videos are shared. 

Video stimulates the senses in ways written text does not. Research has shown that certain words stimulate our senses. With video, using these "word objects" in the videos really have an impact. Two words are "perfume" and "coffee". Well think of this...... producing a video where the storyteller is drinking a cup of coffee. You get the meaning.

Video done correctly, stimulates many areas of the brain. That's what you want. Stimulation generally garners a response. This is rolled into the field of neuroscience, a very important field. This science helps with understanding why video works so well.

Video is to a point where it can't be ignored. I personally don't use video...... yet. But I watch several and I study them to help with my ideas. The move to video is a process. My process is at the blueprint stage. I am drawing up the plan. 

Video is storytelling that informs and entertains. It also constructs new knowledge and develops critical learning skills. 

So draw up your plan. If you need help, I can aid you. At least study what video is doing in the marketing realm.

facebook live

Facebook has some neat, new features.

 

You've probably seen the little icon for Facebook Live. This gives you the opportunity to do live streaming video onto your Facebook page or timeline. 

To start Live, open up the status bar as though you were going to write a new post and click the little camera to the left. It reads "Live". If you have a page click "Post". When that opens up, look toward the bottom for "Go Live". Click that to make a video!

This will push you into a cue to start live streaming. 

You will be prompted to name your video feed and choose your audience. You can live stream to everyone or selected followers. 

Click the bottom to go Live and you're broadcasting! You can save the video if you want to share it later.

Tips:

• Ideal video length: 5 to 20 minutes
• Use a short title. If you need a longer description, do it in the comments.
• After the live event be sure to add a narrative and change up the thumbnail. 1 to 10 images
• Tags help people discover your video.
• You can only tag people under "edit video". You can't edit on mobile... only on a desktop.

The Missipi Brewing Company was the place for a phenomenal show from two very distinct bands.

Friday, September 26, 2014 Divinion from Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Old Man's Curse from Muscatine showed exactly what they were made of. There was plenty of great rock music to go around for everyone.

Old Man's Curse is from Muscatine. They consist of Dave Smith - vocals, Mark Wagler - guitar, Steve Kisner - bass, and Sean Dorton - drums. They are fantastic. Their cover of The Doors' Break On Through (to the Other Side) was glorious. Their blend of songs was appealing and I highly recommend seeing them. Their musicianship is spectacular. You will not be disappointed.

Divinion started it off with a presence that is electrifying and unique. With plenty of power and enough sophistication from vocalist George Wood, Divinion proves they are real and genuine with a new, fresh dose of songs. Their original music engrossed me and I'm very impressed with them.

Two songs I really liked are Insane Gesture and Relentless.

Relentless starts out with a rush of power and smoothly slows down to come back with that energy it started with. Tom Foraker's guitar took me through a winding road of monumental brilliance. Gregory Apple, the bassist, has the touch that you must see to appreciate. Jamie Lopata, on drums, has proved his skills with plenty of polish.

coldplay: fix you

I really like the organ at the beginning of this one. The song takes its own journey and is soulful and soothing. Good guitar too.
